Nicholas Gaffney

Founder

Nicholas Gaffney, a lawyer and former journalist, directs Zumado’s San Francisco office. Nick designs, executes and manages strategic communications programs for professional services providers of all type and scope, including some of the most prominent law and professional services firms in the country. A recognized expert in professional services marketing, he was named one of the world’s top 100 consultants and strategists by a prominent media company in 2020 and 2019.  

Nick’s public relations career spans two decades, during which he has successfully helped launch, manage and bolster a variety of media-related businesses. Before founding Zumado in 2014, Nick directed the San Francisco office of award-winning professional services boutique Infinite Global. His previous roles included heading the Professional Services Practice at Magnet Communications and co-founding the national crisis communications firm Levick. 

Described by The Wall Street Journal as a “marketing guru” and featured in both the New York Times and on NPR’s Marketplace, Nick is frequently sought out for his expertise by the media as well as by clients. He serves on the editorial board of American Bar Association publication Law Practice Today and is a member of the ABA’s Law Practice Management Division board. 

Prior to entering the field of public relations, Nick worked as a journalist and in various capacities for American Lawyer Media. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Providence College and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve School of Law.
